IICA Code of Ethics
The Members of the Institute of Instrumentation,
Control and Automation Australia Inc. (IICA) recognise the Status of
the Institute as a Professional body, made up of individuals who are
Professionals at their level of competency and in their chosen field
of Instrumentation, Control and / or Automation. The Members of the
IICA agree to accept the personal obligation to adopt and adhere to
the Code of Ethics of the IICA in their professional life and commit
to the highest standard of ethical and professional conduct in all
their actions.
In fulfilling their professional duties, Members of the IICA shall:
- Recognise their responsibility to hold paramount at all times the health, safety and welfare of the public and shall assist in
disclosing conditions that might endanger the public or the environment.
- Offer to or perform services only in their area of competence to the best of their knowledge to the highest standard with fairness,
honesty and in good faith.
- Act as faithful agents or advisers of their employers or clients applying skill and knowledge impartially, independently and to their
best interest.
- Take steps to maintain, continuously improve and further their knowledge, skills and competence, keeping records of their efforts,
and assist and encourage colleagues and coworkers in their professional development.
- Issue public statements or give evidence in an honest and objective manner and only on the basis of adequate knowledge and
competency.
- Treat all persons with respect and fairly regardless of their race, religion, gender, disability or national origin and avoid
deceptive acts.
- Uphold and further the dignity, integrity and honour of the engineering profession and its members, conducting themselves at all
times responsibly, ethically and lawfully.
- Support those who uphold this Code of Ethics and shall not assist, be involved in or induce a breach of this Code.
